Lifta – The Vanished Village
Nestled on the western slopes at the entrance of Jerusalem, the ruins of Lifta whisper stories of exile and endurance. Once a thriving Palestinian village with flowing springs, stone houses, terraced gardens, and a panoramic view over the valleys, Lifta was forcibly emptied during the 1948 Nakba. Today, its broken homes stand like ghosts — defiant in their silence, beautiful in their decay. Through my lens, I document Lifta not as ruins, but as a living archive — the olive trees still breathe, the archways still frame the sun, and the water still trickles from the spring that once nourished generations. These images reflect both loss and longing, and an unwavering attachment to a homeland that refuses erasure. This visual journey invites you to witness Lifta as it is today — not forgotten, not abandoned, but paused in time, awaiting justice, memory, and return.
